State Bank of India issued an alert! UPI services will be closed tomorrow on 22nd July

SBI Alert : The country’s largest government bank, State Bank of India, has issued an alert for its crores of customers. According to SBI, UPI services will not be available tomorrow, Tuesday 22nd July. Customers will not be able to avail this service for a few hours. This service will not be available to SBI customers due to scheduled maintenance.

When and for how long will SBI UPI service remain closed?

SBI UPI service will not be available from 12:15 pm to 1:00 am (IST) on Tuesday 22 July 2025. During this time, customers will not be able to do any transaction through UPI. If you use SBI UPI, then its service will be closed for some time on the night of 22 July. However, you can use UPI Lite. Small transactions can be done through UPI Lite.

UPI Lite will remain operational

The bank has clearly stated that even during this technical maintenance, customers can continue to make small digital payments via UPI Lite without any hassle.

What is UPI Lite and how to activate it?

UPI Lite is an easy and fast method. It is useful for making small payments as it does not require UPI PIN. For BHIM SBI Pay app, download and launch the app. Then tap on the UPI LITE section. Then there will be an option to load money. UPI Lite will be activated as soon as you load money.

What is the limit of UPI Lite?

You can load maximum Rs 2000 at a time.

A maximum of Rs 500 can be spent in one transaction

You can use a total of up to Rs 4000 in a day.

The maximum balance that can be maintained is up to Rs 2000.

Recently SBI faced technical problems

18 July 2025 : UPI, IMPS, YONO and NEFT services were disrupted for some time. The bank advised to use ATM and UPI Lite.

July 16, 2025: YONO login service was down for some time but was restored by 11 am on the same day.

Yes, you can disable UPI Lite anytime from the BHIM SBI Pay app.
