Rithala Narela Nathupur Metro Corridor: Ghaziabad city of Uttar Pradesh has received a new gift from the central government. PM Modi laid the foundation stone of the Rithala-Kundli section to be built in the fourth phase of the metro. This will provide direct metro from Ghaziabad to the cities of Haryana, which will reduce the hassle of changing metro trains repeatedly.
The Union Cabinet approved
The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the 26.463 km long Rithala – Narela – Nathupur (Kundli) corridor to be built in the fourth phase of Delhi Metro. This corridor will further enhance connectivity between the capital Delhi, Haryana and Ghaziabad. The corridor is targeted to be completed in 4 years from the date of approval.
How much will the Delhi government have to spend?
The total cost of this corridor is Rs 6,230 crore. Of this, a total of Rs 5685.22 crore will be spent on the construction in Delhi, while Rs 545.77 crore will be spent on the line to be built in Haryana. This cost has been divided between the central government and the state government. The central government will contribute 40 percent of the total cost of the metro lines to be built in Delhi, while the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will provide Rs 1,000 crore. Apart from this, 37.5 percent of the expenditure will be given to Delhi Metro in the form of loan and 20 percent of the expenditure will be borne by the Delhi government.
Haryana government will bear 80 percent of the expenses
The total cost of the corridor in Haryana is Rs 545.77 crore. The state government will bear 80 percent of this cost and the central government will bear 20 percent. It is expected that the construction of this corridor will be completed by the year 2028.
How will the corridor connect to Ghaziabad?
According to a PIB report, this line will be an extension of the currently operational Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda) – Rithala (Red Line) corridor and will boost connectivity in the northwestern parts of the national capital such as Narela, Bawana, parts of Rohini, etc. After the corridor is completed, the Rithala – Narela – Nathupur corridor will also connect Shaheed Sthal New Bus Adda station in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh to Nathupur in Haryana via Delhi.
21 stations will be included
This entire section will consist of 21 stations. All the stations on this corridor will be elevated. The stations to be built on this corridor are: Rithala, Rohini Sector 25, Rohini Sector 26, Rohini Sector 31, Rohini Sector 32, Rohini Sector 36, Barwala, Rohini Sector 35, Rohini Sector 34, Bawana Industrial Area – 1 Sector 3,4, Bawana Industrial Area – 1 Sector 1,2, Bawana JJ Colony, Sanoth, New Sanoth, Depot Station, Bhorgarh Village, Anaaj Mandi Narela, Narela DDA Sports Complex, Narela, Narela Sector 5, Kundli and Nathupur. Currently, the Delhi Metro operates up to Gurugram, Ballabhgarh and Bahadurgarh in Haryana.
64 lakh passengers travel daily
Today, an average of 64 lakh passengers travel in the Delhi Metro daily. According to a PIB report, the highest ever passenger travel was on November 18 this year at 78.67 lakh. DMRC currently operates 12 metro lines with a total length of about 392 km with 288 stations in Delhi and NCR. Today, Delhi Metro has the largest metro network in India and one of the largest metros in the world.
There will be 50 stations from Ghaziabad to Haryana
There are currently 29 stations from Ghaziabad’s Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda) metro station to Delhi’s Rithala. After the construction of this corridor, 21 more stations will be added to the Red Line. In this way, the total distance from Ghaziabad to Haryana will be 50 stations.
