EPFO New Guidelines: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization has implemented a new rule regarding the PF account of employees. This change is for all PF account holders. EPFO has introduced new rules for correcting and updating the details in the account.
EPFO issued new guidelines
EPFO has issued guidelines for correcting name and date of birth, under which SOP version 3.9 has been approved for updating the profile of employees. After the new rule, documents will have to be submitted for updating the UAN profile. You can apply by giving a declaration.

Divided into major and minor categories
According to EPFO, there are big difficulties in correcting many mistakes. This happens due to the data not being updated. That is why the guideline has been introduced. Under the new instructions, EPFO has divided the changes in the profile into major and minor categories. At least two documents will have to be submitted for minor changes. At least three documents will have to be submitted for major corrections.
Claims process made easy
EPF members have the option to submit a joint declaration for correction through the e-service portal. Corrections can be made only in the data related to the account managed by the employer.
Companies cannot make changes in the EPF account of the previous or other institution. At the same time, now the process of EPF claims has become easier. If the bank is registered in KYC, then there is no need to upload bank passbook and cheque with the online claim.
