This decision will be especially beneficial for the elderly who are affected by these diseases and who need medical attention at the right time. Introduction of Ayushman Bharat Yojana Ayushman Bharat Yojana, also known as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, is a major health protection scheme of the Government of India. The scheme aims to provide health services to the poor and deprived sections of the country.

Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. This benefit can be availed in any government hospital or those private hospitals which the government has linked with this scheme. Inclusion of current packages and new diseases Currently, 25 health packages are included under AB-PMJAY. These include treatment of various types of diseases, but now the government is deciding to add new diseases to these packages. Treatment of Alzheimer’s, dementia, heart failure and other serious diseases will be possible under this scheme.

A committee of medical experts who review these packages from time to time will identify the diseases affecting the elderly and new packages will be added accordingly. Relief given to the elderly The elderly are usually at a higher risk of serious diseases, so the government has decided to expand this scheme. Now senior citizens aged 70 years and above will be able to avail the benefits of this scheme.

This decision has been taken especially for those who belong to any income group and who face health problems. This expansion will provide better health services to these elderly, so that they can get timely treatment. Number of potential beneficiaries This expansion of AB-PMJAY is likely to benefit about 6 crore people from an estimated 4.5 crore families. This number is important keeping in mind the increasing number of elderly people in India. Health experts believe that not getting timely treatment for these serious diseases can lead to many complications, which puts more burden on health.

Importance of Ayushman Card

Through Ayushman Card, beneficiaries can get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. Through this card, the facility of treatment is available in any government hospital. Along with this, patients can also use this card in private hospitals which the government has included in this scheme. This ensures that all eligible beneficiaries can get high quality health services.

Step towards improving health services

The expansion of this scheme is an important step towards strengthening health services on the part of the government. It ensures that people from weaker sections can also get treatment for serious diseases and do not have to face financial burden. Apart from this, it reflects the government’s commitment to make health services accessible to every section of the society. The new changes in the Ayushman Bharat scheme will provide special relief to the elderly.

This step is a positive effort of the government, which is moving towards making health services more accessible and effective. Now the elderly will be able to get timely treatment and they will be able to deal with their health problems in a better way. Through this scheme, the government has taken a new step to strengthen health services and provide benefits to every section of the society.
