How to get exemption from double toll tax even if you don’t have FASTag?

Many times people are not able to get Fastag installed due to lack of information, awareness or time. Many times they are not able to use the Fastag due to its malfunctioning i.e. not working or not getting recharged or due to some other reason. In such a situation, as per the strict rules of NHAI, they have to pay double toll tax at the toll plaza on the highway. However, some drivers also avoid this.

What is prepaid Touch & Go card and how to use it?

In fact, for the owners or drivers of vehicles which do not have Fastag, NHAI has provided such a facility at toll plazas, by using which they can avoid paying double toll tax. The name of this facility is Prepaid Touch & Go Card. Drivers get this on the POS machine installed at the toll plazas itself. If needed, anyone can buy a prepaid touch and go card from there and use it. This is also like any other common card related to money transactions. By using this, one can proceed by paying toll tax while avoiding double charge at the toll plaza.

When may you have to pay double toll tax?

According to the rules of NHAI, it is very important to take another precaution regarding the use of Fastag. Otherwise, despite having Fastag in your vehicle, you may have to pay double toll tax. At the end of March this year, all toll plaza operators have also been given guidelines in this regard.

This new rule states that if the Fastag is not pasted on the vehicle’s windshield, then despite having a Fastag, you will have to pay double charge. Therefore, to avoid double charge, if you have a Fastag, then immediately paste it on the vehicle’s windshield. If not, then use the prepaid Touch and Go card facility at the toll plaza.
