Stock Market Close: The stock market closed with turmoil on Friday, December 20, 2024, the last day of the trading week, due to less than expected cut in interest rates by the US central bank Federal Reserve.
At the end of trading, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE)’s main sensitive index Sensex fell by a huge 1176.46 points or 1.49% to reach 78,041.59 points. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty also dived by 364.20 points or 1.52% to close at 23,587.50 points.
Tech Mahindra’s share fell the most
At the end of the stock market trading, 28 shares in the BSE Sensex based on 30 shares closed with losses and 3 shares closed with gains. In this, Tech Mahindra’s share closed with the maximum loss of 3.97% at Rs 1685.20 per share. In the NSE Nifty based on 50 shares, 45 shares closed in the green mark and 5 shares closed in the red mark. In the Nifty too, Tech Mahindra fell by 3.90% to reach Rs 1685.85 per share.
These stocks earned money in the turmoil of the stock market
In the volatile trading of the stock market, some stocks made huge profits. Nestle India and Titan were in profit in the BSE Sensex. Dr. Reddy’s, JSW Steel, ICICI Bank, Nestle India and HDFC Life Insurance stocks made huge profits in the NSE Nifty.
Other Asian markets also saw a sharp decline
In other Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei 225, Hong Kong’s Hangseng and South Korea’s Kospi fell sharply. China’s Shanghai Composite remained in profit. European and American markets also closed lower on Thursday. In the global oil market, Brent crude fell 1.03% to reach $ 72.13 per share.
