New Delhi: After the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana are over, now elections are to be held in Jharkhand and Maharashtra. For this, the Election Commission can soon announce the dates of the elections.
All the parties in both the states have started campaigning. Meanwhile, the Eknath Shinde government of Maharashtra has taken a big decision. The government has announced that from 12 o’clock tonight, entry will be free on 5 toll tax points entering Mumbai. This decision of the government is being linked to the elections.
The order will come into effect at 12 midnight tonight
On Monday, state Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that light motor vehicles will be exempted from paying toll at five major toll booths entering Mumbai. This decision will come into effect from 12:00 midnight on October 14, 2024. In this case, vehicles like cars, jeeps, vans and small trucks will not have to pay any toll.
These booths were made tax free
The toll booths which have been made tax free include Dahisar, Anand Nagar, Vaishali, Airoli and Mulund booths. Atal Setu toll booth has not been included. Leaders of various political parties, including leaders of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and both factions of Shiv Sena, have been demanding toll waiver for a long time. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray had also recently reiterated the demand to remove toll fee on Mumbai’s I-T.

Let us tell you that 45 to 75 rupees were charged at these five toll booths, this was applicable till the year 2026. There is a movement of about 3.5 lakh vehicles on these toll booths, in which 70 thousand are big vehicles, while 2.80 lakh are small vehicles. This decision of the government has given great relief to the passengers traveling daily. Along with this, the time spent in the queue will also be saved.
