IMD Rain Alert: Heavy rain alert in 20 states between 10 and 12 January! know weather condition in your city

The weather is changing rapidly in the first weeks of January. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of heavy rain and cold wave in various parts of the country for the next two days. Dense fog and cold wave have been predicted in 20 states, which may affect normal life.

Alert of heavy rain and snowfall:

Due to the activation of western disturbance between 10th and 12th January, a major change in the weather will be seen in the hilly and plain areas of North India.

Temperature situation:

The temperature in Gulmarg dropped to -9.8 degree Celsius, while -1 degree was recorded in Srinagar. The temperature in Tabo of Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh reached -13.6 degrees. The minimum temperature in Fatehpur of Sikar district of Rajasthan was 1.1 degrees. Many areas of Punjab and Haryana are in the grip of dense fog, while the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 21.5 degrees due to sunshine throughout the day.

Meteorological Department’s Alert

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert of cold wave and dense fog in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra and Mandi districts of Himachal Pradesh on January 9. Due to the activation of Western Disturbance from January 10, there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in most parts of North India.

Forecast for the coming days:

There is a possibility of snowfall in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh between January 10 and 13. Light to moderate rain may occur in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi. There is a possibility of hailstorm in Assam and Tripura in Northeast India. An alert has been issued for heavy rain with thunderstorms in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala.

Dense fog and cold wave

will continue to prevail in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh for the next few days. Cold wave conditions may persist in Rajasthan and western Madhya Pradesh on January 10 and 11. Fog is likely in Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till January 13.

Amid these changes in the weather across the country, people have been advised to be cautious and seek weather information before travelling. Continuous updates are being issued by IMD.
