Before Raksha Bandhan, the Maharashtra Government has given a big gift to the women of the state. The Maharashtra government is starting its special ‘Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin’ scheme from August 17.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced this on Thursday. Under this special scheme, money will be transferred to the bank accounts of women on a monthly basis. More than one crore women of the state will get the benefit of this.

Deputy CM Fadnavis said that during the trial run of the scheme on Wednesday, some eligible women have already received Rs 3,000 for July and August. He said that we hope that more than one crore eligible women will start getting Rs 1,500 every month.

What is Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana?

This flagship scheme is inspired by the ‘Ladli Bahina Yojana’ implemented earlier by the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led Madhya Pradesh government. This scheme of Maharashtra has been included in the budget by Deputy CM and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar. This initiative will put an annual burden of Rs 46,000 crore on the state treasury.

Who will get the benefit?

Women of Maharashtra will be given the benefit of this scheme. However, their age should be between 21 and 65 years. If they are less or more than this, they will not get the benefit of this scheme. Also, financial assistance will be available under this scheme only if their annual income is Rs 2.5 lakh.

  • This scheme is only for female residents of Maharashtra
  • Applicant must be a permanent resident of Maharashtra
  • Female applicants must be between 21 and 65 years of age
  • Married, unmarried, deserted, divorced and destitute women are all eligible
  • Applicants must have a bank account in any bank in their name
  • The family income of the applicant should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh

The aim of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to economically deprived women. Although detailed guidelines about this scheme have not been issued yet, it is expected that many types of women will be included in this scheme, especially women below the poverty line or with limited income.

How to apply online?

There is no charge of any kind under this scheme. The government has introduced a mobile application called Nari Shakti Doot App to facilitate the enrollment of citizens under this scheme. This app allows users to register beneficiaries for this initiative. It is designed to work on both Android and IOS devices and can be downloaded from Play Store and App Store. This application also provides online service for Majhi Ladki Behan Yojana.
