National Desk: Have you ever felt annoyed by the sight of a dirty toilet at a toll plaza? If so, that very irritation could now become a source of reward. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched a unique scheme to further the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, rewarding travelers with a ₹1,000 FASTag recharge for reporting dirty toilets.

This special offer will run until October 31, 2025.

This initiative by NHAI will be implemented on the national highway network across the country and its deadline has been fixed as October 31, 2025. The aim of this campaign is to provide clean washrooms to highway travellers and encourage responsible citizens to participate in it.

How to get the reward? Know the process

Under this scheme, if any passenger sees an unclean toilet, he can upload a geo-tagged, time-stamped original photo of that toilet through the ‘Marg Yatri’ mobile app. Along with this, passengers will also have to provide their name, mobile number, vehicle registration number and location details. The reported complaint will be verified through AI and manually. If the report is found to be correct, a FASTag recharge of ₹1,000 will be credited to the concerned vehicle number.

Keep these rules in mind or you will not get the reward.

Some strict rules have also been fixed regarding this scheme:

One vehicle will get the reward only once. That is, any vehicle will be eligible for the reward only once in the entire period of the scheme. Only one reward will be given per toilet in a day – If many people complain about the same toilet, then the one who sends the correct report first will get the reward. This scheme will be applicable only on toilets operated by NHAI. Toilets built in dhabas, petrol pumps or other private places are not covered under this scheme. Edited, old or repeated photos will be invalid. Only original, clear and geo-tagged photos taken from the app will be accepted.

Don’t complain, now make your responsibility a means of reward.

Through this scheme, NHAI aims to make highway infrastructure clean and usable. Now commuters not only have the opportunity to raise their voice for cleanliness, but they are also being given financial incentives for doing so. So the next time you’re traveling on a national highway and see a dirty washroom at a toll plaza, don’t ignore it. Open the ‘Marg Yatri’ app, report it, and earn a recharge of ₹1,000!
