Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched a QR code based digital card for the convenience of passengers. This digital card will replace the existing smart card of Delhi Metro.
This means that passengers will not need to carry physical cards with them. Earlier, passengers could travel single with QR code tickets. This means that now smartphones can be used as metro cards. Passengers will not have to tap the card after recharging it.
This service of DMRC is starting from today 13th September. DMRC’s multiple journey QR ticket can be purchased from Delhi Metro’s Momentum 2.0 app. It will work like a digital smart card.
DMRC Multiple Journey QR Ticket: How to use it
1. First of all you have to install DMRC Momentum 2.0 app in your smartphone.
2. After installing the app, you will have to log in with your mobile number and create your profile.
3. On the home screen of the app, you will see the option to purchase Multiple Journey QR codes.
4. Passengers will be able to recharge this digital card through UPI, credit or debit card and net banking.
6. To travel through this, you will have to scan your digital card on the QR code placed at the entry gate of the metro station.
DMRC Multiple Journey QR Ticket: Price and Recharge
For the first time, users will have to spend Rs 150 for multiple journey QR ticket. However, users will be able to recharge it later in the range of Rs 50 to Rs 3000. Like a smart card, users will get a discount of 10 percent during peak hours (8 am to 12 noon and 5 pm to 9 pm) and up to 20 percent during off-peak hours on traveling with it. For QR based card, it is necessary to keep a minimum balance of Rs 60 on the app.
