Government employees have got a good news even before Budget 2024. Actually, the proposal of the 8th Pay Commission has been made and sent to the Narendra Modi government at the Center. With this, the Pay Commission will be able to review the basic salary, allowances, pension and other benefits for government employees and pensioners.
The first full budget of Modi 3.0 is likely to be presented in the third week of July. In such a situation, it is expected that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman may discuss the proposal of the 8th Pay Commission in the budget.
Proposal of 8th Pay Commission
Shiv Gopal Mishra, Secretary of the National Council (Staff Side, Joint Consultative Machinery for Central Government Employees), has written a letter to the Cabinet Secretary reiterating the demand for the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission. When did the 7th Pay Commission come
The 7th Pay Commission was introduced by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in February 2014. The recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission came into effect from 1 January 2016. This will be the first time that a new pay commission will be formed during the tenure of the Modi government. If we look at the normal interval of ten years, the 8th Central Pay Commission is proposed to start from 1 January 2026. But the government has not yet announced its formal formation.
Big expectations from 8th pay commission
Shiv Gopal Mishra says that inflation has increased after Corona. This is even higher than the level of inflation before Covid. If we compare the retail prices of everyday essential items from 2016 to 2023, they have increased by more than 80 percent in the local markets. In such a situation, there is a need to increase the salary of government employees.
Lakhs of central government employees are waiting for an update on the 8th Central Pay Commission. With the return of PM Narendra Modi to power for the third time, the expectations of the employees have also increased.
What will be the salary structure in 8th pay?
Shiv Gopal Mishra says that now the times have changed, in such a situation, 1 decade is a long time to review the salary. Instead, the salary of government employees should be reviewed from time to time and changes should be made accordingly. However, no outline of the salary structure of the 8th Pay Commission has been made yet. There is a possibility of further discussion on this.
