Diesel Vehicle Ban in India: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has talked about imposing 10% extra tax on diesel vehicles in a program. He said that to stop increasing pollution, pollution tax should be imposed on these vehicles.
Addressing a program, Central Transport Minister Gadkari said that if excessive use of diesel-powered vehicles and generators continues, then a proposal to impose 10% extra tax on them as pollution tax can be considered.

He said that this is the only way to bring about a change in green energy. Gadkari said that people will have to move from petrol and diesel to green fuel. If this is not done, the government will have to add additional taxes. Gadkari’s statement immediately went viral on social media and soon pollution tax was imposed, but later Gadkari said that media reports are talking about imposing an additional 10% GST on diesel vehicles. He wants to make it clear that no such proposal is currently under consideration by the government.

He also said in the post that it is necessary to actively adopt clean and green alternative fuels as per our commitments to achieve carbon net zero by 2017 and reduce the stars of air pollution caused by dangerous fuels like diesel as well as to increase automobile sales rapidly. It became clear from Gadkari’s post that there is no idea of additional tax at the moment. But the way he has talked about increasing the use of green fields and limiting the use of diesel has increased the apprehension that the government is gradually tightening the use of diesel vehicles. There is also news that the government can ban diesel vehicles by 2027.
