Bank Holiday Alert! Banks will remain closed for 4 days from tomorrow in these states

Chhath Puja 2024 Bank Holiday : On the occasion of Chhath Puja 2024, banks will remain closed for four days in many states including Bihar, Jharkhand, Delhi, and West Bengal. According to the official list of bank holidays of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will remain closed on November 7 and 8 in these states, so customers should finish their banking work in advance.

Will banks remain closed on Chhath Puja?

Yes, according to RBI, banks in these states will remain closed on 7th and 8th November due to Chhath Puja holiday. Apart from this, banks are also closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month, due to which banks will not open on 9th November this time as well. In this way, banks will remain closed from 7th November to 10th November.

Importance of Chhath Puja

Chhath Puja is a four-day festival of worship of the Sun God, in which devotees offer water to the rising and setting sun. Special rituals such as fasting, holy bath and standing in water meditation are followed.

List of bank closures in Delhi and other states

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has declared November 7 as a public holiday on the occasion of Chhath Puja.

November 7 (Thursday): Banks will remain closed for Chhath Puja Sandhya Arghya in Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.

November 8 (Friday): Banks will remain closed for Chhath Puja morning Arghya and Wangala Festival in Bihar, Jharkhand and Meghalaya.

November 9 (Saturday): Banks will remain closed across India as it is the second Saturday of the month.

November 10 (Sunday): Banks will be closed on account of regular weekly holiday.
