Electricity rates have been increased after five years in the state. Electricity will be recovered from consumers as fuel surcharge from the April bill itself. This will be the first time in the state when electricity bills will keep increasing and decreasing every month due to the implementation of surcharge. Electricity rates have been increased by 1.24 percent in the state.
Actually, UPPCL has made this increase in the form of fuel surcharge. Due to the increase in this fuel surcharge fee, your electricity bill will increase or decrease every month on the lines of diesel and petrol. In simple language, the more your power load, the more your electricity bill will increase or decrease.
Electricity rates will increase from April
This increased surcharge has been implemented from the month of April. In such a situation, the electricity bill is not going to decrease in this period of scorching heat. The reason for this is that the consumption of electricity increases these days. Therefore, it is almost certain that an increased electricity bill will come in the coming time. In such a situation, the pockets of electricity consumers are sure to be loose. Let us tell you that in January, more fuel worth Rs 78.99 crore has been used in power generation. This includes coal etc. In such a situation, a surcharge will be levied on this basis in the April bill. At the same time, in the bill of May 2025, fuel surcharge will be levied in view of the expenditure on fuel for power generation in February 2025. In such a situation, now the electricity bills will keep increasing and decreasing every month.
The increase made under this right
Recently, the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission had given the power companies the right to fix fuel and power purchase adjustment surcharge every month under the Multi Year Tariff Regulation-2025. Under this authority given by this commission, for the first time in the state, an order has been given to collect fuel surcharge from consumers. However, the Electricity Consumer Council has opposed the increase in electricity bill. UP Electricity Consumer Council President Awadhesh Verma said that UPPCL owes Rs 33122 crore to consumers. UPPCL has made this increase without returning the money of consumers. UP State Electricity Consumer Council will oppose this.
