7th Pay Commission: The government has changed the rules for employees joining government jobs after July 2025. The government has made a big change regarding dress allowance.
The Communication Ministry said that those who join the central government job after July 2025 will not get the full annual dress allowance. They will be given this allowance according to the months of work. This rule has been implemented under the 7th Pay Commission.
Now new government employees will get dress allowance according to their joining date. This step of the government has been taken to balance the expenses and make the rules transparent.
What is dress allowance?
The money that government employees get for their uniform or expenses related to the uniform is called dress allowance. This includes money for clothes, shoes, kits, gowns etc.
What do the new rules say?
Employees who join the job after July 2025 will get dress allowance as per months.
How will it be counted?
Dress allowance will be calculated based on this formula.
(Annual dress allowance ÷ 12) × Months from the month of joining the job to June of the next year
Example
If an employee starts the job in September 2025, he will get dress allowance from September to June = 10 months.
What are the rules for those who retire?
Employees who retire by December will get half dress allowance.
Those who retire after December will get full dress allowance.
