New Passport: You can apply for passport from home, you have to follow these steps online

Passport is a very important document for Indian citizens, which is useful for them when traveling abroad. Even if you are not traveling abroad, you should have a passport so that it can be used as an identity. The special thing is that you can take the help of online passport service portal to get a passport.

You can easily apply for a passport by visiting this website https://www.passportindia.gov.in. For this, you have to follow the steps given below.

Step 1: Registration

First of all you have to register on the passport service portal. To do this you have to provide the information given below,

– Name

– Date of birth

– gender

– mobile number

– E-mail address

Step 2: Login

Once you are registered, you can log in to the portal using your login ID and password.

Step 3: Fill the application form

After logging in, click on ‘New Application’ and select ‘Fill-up New Application’. You have to provide your personal details, address, education, occupation and travel details here.

Step 4: Upload documents

You will need to scan and upload the required documents as proof of your identity, address, and nationality. The required documents include,

– Birth certificate

– Address proof

– Aadhar card

– Voter ID Card

– driving license

– Bank Passbook

– electricity bill

– Photo

Step 5: Pay the fee

You have to pay the application fee online with the help of credit card, debit card, net banking or UPI.

Step 6: Schedule an appointment

You have to schedule an appointment at the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) to submit your passport application. You can choose the PSK and date as per your convenience.

Step 7: Attend the PSK

On the day of your appointment, you will need to appear at the PSK with all the required documents. You will also need to provide your biometric information (fingerprints and eye scan).

Step 8: Collect your passport

Your passport will be ready within 15-20 working days of submitting your application. You can get it by visiting the PSK or by post.

If you wish, you can also apply for an ‘instant’ passport, which is issued within 3-4 days. However, you will have to pay an additional fee for this. Apart from this, you can also track the status of your application on the portal.
