The southwest monsoon is currently drenching the entire country. At many places, heavy rains have caused devastation. After heavy rains in Mumbai, schools and colleges have been closed and life has been disrupted.
The Meteorological Department has once again issued a red alert for rain. Apart from Maharashtra, a rain alert has also been issued in the capital Delhi. Due to lack of good rain in Delhi for the last few days, the mercury has risen. However, the Meteorological Department has now given relief news to the people of Delhi. Apart from this, an alert for heavy rain has been issued in 10 other states as well.
The Meteorological Department says that heavy rains will continue in Goa for the next few days. Mumbai received 176 mm of rain on Tuesday morning. The IMD has issued a heavy rain alert. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for rain in Goa and Karnataka. There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain here on July 11 and 12.
Red alert for rain in Mumbai
The IMD’s Mumbai centre on Tuesday issued a ‘red alert’ for the city, forecasting ‘heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places’. Hence, the local body declared a holiday for schools and colleges in Mumbai on Tuesday. The weather department uses four colours to issue weather alerts in the country. These alerts are… green (no action needed), yellow (keep watching and monitoring), orange (be prepared) and red (action/assistance needed).
It will rain heavily in Madhya Pradesh.Due to the active
southwestmonsoon , rain has been continuing atmanyplaces in Madhya Pradesh for the last few days and rain warning has been issued at many places today as well. According to the scientists of the Meteorological Center Bhopal, due to the southwest monsoon being active in the state and weather systems formed at different places, it rained at many places in the state including Betul, Bhopal, Ujjain, Khajuraho, Mandla and Umaria during the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, there was heavy rain at some places, whereas light to moderate rain was recorded at some places. In the capital Bhopal, there was light to moderate rain throughout the day amid sunshine and shade yesterday. Due to this there was relief from the humidity.
The capital Delhi will get relief from the heat.
The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 27.2 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and the Meteorological Department has predicted generally cloudy sky and light rain during the day. The humidity was recorded at 84 percent at 8.30 am. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 33 degrees Celsius.
Rain alert in these states
The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert in Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Karnataka. Apart from this, heavy rain is also expected in Uttarakhand on July 9. Tehri, Pauri, Bageshwar, Almora, Nainital and Champawat districts may receive heavy rain on July 10.
