These flaws (CIVN-2024-0311) are marked with a high severity warning. The advisory says, “Multiple flaws have been reported in Google Chrome that could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code and crash the application on the target system.”

The agency also told which Chrome versions are affected by this vulnerability. See the list below..
– Google Chrome versions prior to 129.0.6668.70/.71 for Windows/Mac

– Google Chrome versions prior to 129.0.6668.70 for Linux Overview Description T Solution

Attackers can gain control of the system

The agency says that these vulnerabilities in Google Chrome are present due to type confusion in V8, use after free in dawn, integer overflow in Skia and inappropriate implementation in V8. A remote attacker can exploit these vulnerabilities by sending specially crafted requests to the target system. By exploiting these flaws, the attacker can execute arbitrary code on the target system and crash the application.

Do this work immediately to stay safe

Google has released an updated stable channel to 129.0.6668.70/.71 for Windows, Mac and 129.0.6668.70 for Linux. The agency has advised users to apply these latest updates of Chrome on their devices to stay safe.
