New Delhi : On the occasion of Deepawali, the Central Government is going to provide the benefit of free LPG cylinders to 1 lakh 84 thousand 39 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
Consumers will have to pay the full amount of the gas cylinder in cash. After three to four days, the subsidy amount will be transferred by the oil companies to the bank accounts of the consumers.
Only those consumers will get the benefit of this scheme whose Aadhaar authentication has been done. 2,19,667 consumers are registered under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in the district, out of which e-KYC process of 1,84,039 has been completed. At the same time, Aadhaar authentication of 35,628 consumers has not been done. For this, the DSO has instructed all gas agencies to ensure Aadhaar authentication of 100% beneficiaries.
The central government has planned to give free gas cylinders twice on the festival of Holi and Diwali. Consumers are being advised to contact the concerned gas agency and complete the process of Aadhaar authentication, so that they can take advantage of this scheme.
DSO Shivi Garg said that only those beneficiaries whose bank accounts are linked to their Aadhaar card and whose Aadhaar is authenticated will be able to take advantage of this scheme. Under the scheme, a cylinder of 14.2 kg will be given free. Efforts are being made to make consumers aware in this regard.
PM Ujjwala Yojana was started by the Prime Minister in the year 2016. The objective of this scheme is to provide free LPG cylinder connection to rural families. So far 10 crore people have got the benefit of this scheme. Rural women have got a lot of benefit from this scheme. Women use LPG gas throughout the year, so they are given gas cylinders on subsidy. Along with this, financial assistance of Rs 1600 is also given on taking the connection so that they can also buy other necessary things related to the gas connection. The government also provides EMI facility for buying gas stoves.
