EPFO : The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has simplified the process of updating personal information for its members. Now members whose Universal Account Number (UAN) is linked to Aadhaar can update their EPF profile without uploading any document.
Profile update is now easy
Earlier, employer’s approval was required to update information in the EPF account, due to which the process could take up to 28 days. But now if your UAN is verified with Aadhaar, then you can directly update information like your name, date of birth, gender, nationality, parents’ names, marital status, spouse’s name, joining and leaving date.
However, if your UAN was issued before 1 October 2017, employer approval will still be required for profile update. Also, it is important to link Aadhaar and PAN with EPF account so that there is no delay in withdrawal and profile update.
Benefit and effect
According to EPFO, with this new system, about 45% of profile update requests can be self-accepted. This will improve the verification of data. Also, errors will be reduced and EPF members will get an easy and better experience.
