New Delhi. NCR Transport Corporation, which operates the Rapid Rail, and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation have joined hands for integrated QR-coded ticketing.
The benefit of this agreement will be that passengers will be able to book tickets for both Delhi Metro and Namo Bharat trains in Delhi-NCR using a single booking platform. With this integration, those who book Namo Bharat train tickets through the RRTS Connect application can also buy Delhi Metro tickets. Similarly, passengers using the DMRC mobile application to book metro tickets can also buy Namo Bharat train tickets.
The integrated QR-coded ticketing system will allow passengers to use the mobile app of either system or switch between the two while travelling. Earlier this month, an agreement was also signed between NCRTC and Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC). After this, passengers can book Rapid Rail tickets on the IRCTC app or book Namo Bharat Train tickets 120 days in advance along with Indian Railways tickets.
Passengers will benefit a lot
An NCRTC official said, “Rapid Rail stations are strategically located near or integrated with railway and metro stations and bus depots. This initiative will eliminate the need to switch between different ticketing apps for travel in the NCRTC and DMRC network. The integrated ticketing option is expected to reduce queues at NCRTC and DMRC stations and more people will use rail-based transport for travel within Delhi-NCR.
