Bank Holidays: Banks will remain closed for half a month in August, check holiday list

Bank Holidays in August 2025 : If you are planning any important bank work in August 2025, then first know how many days the banks will remain closed next month. This time there are more bank holidays in the month of August.

If you add local and national festivals like Independence Day, Rakshabandhan, Janmashtami and Ganesh Chaturthi along with regular holidays on Saturday and Sunday, then banks will remain closed for almost half a month in many states. Therefore, customers are advised to complete their important bank related work in time so that any kind of trouble can be avoided.

List of State Wise Bank Holidays in August 2025

3 August (Sunday) – Tripura: Banks closed due to Ker Puja

August 8 (Friday) – Sikkim, Odisha: Tendong Lo Rum Phat

August 9 (Saturday) – Uttarakhand, UP, Haryana, MP, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan: Raksha Bandhan

13 August (Wednesday) – Manipur: Patriotism Day

15 August (Friday) – Independence Day all over the country

August 16 (Saturday) – Janmashtami across India

August 16 (Saturday) – Gujarat, Maharashtra: Parsi New Year

August 26 (Tuesday) – Karnataka, Kerala: Ganesh Chaturthi

August 27 (Wednesday) – Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Odisha, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana: Ganesh Chaturthi (second day)

August 28 (Thursday) – Odisha, Punjab, Sikkim: Nuakhai

Apart from this, banks will also remain closed on normal second and fourth Saturdays i.e. August 10 and 23 and every Sunday i.e. August 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 in all the states.

What should customers do?

Due to so many holidays, cash withdrawal, check clearing and other banking services will be affected. Therefore, customers are advised to complete their important banking work in early August. However, digital banking services like mobile banking, internet banking, ATM etc. will continue to run normally. Holidays may vary from state to state. These may change as per the notification of local or central government. Therefore, before going to any bank, verify the holidays from your bank’s website or branch.
