Janmashtami is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. It is one of the important festivals of Hinduism. Banking services may be affected due to bank holiday on this occasion, so people who have to do any kind of bank related work are advised to finish their work on Friday itself. Or finish it on Tuesday 27 August. However, digital banking services like net banking, mobile banking and ATM services will continue as normal, so that customers will not face any problem in daily banking work.
Banks will remain closed in these states on Janmashtami
On Monday, August 26, 2024, on the occasion of Janmashtami, private and public sector banks will remain closed in many cities of India. According to the RBI website, this holiday has been declared under the Negotiable Instruments Act. Banks will not be closed across the country. Banks will be closed only in some states.
This list includes cities like Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla and Srinagar.
