Let us tell you that bank holidays are decided by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Banks are closed every Sunday and second-fourth Saturday. Apart from this, banks are also closed on the occasion of national holidays and regional festivals. Even today, banks in many states are closed on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.
Banks are closed in these states
Today, there is a holiday in the banks of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Goa. These banks are closed due to Ganesh Chaturthi. However, banks in other cities are open as usual.
When will the bank remain closed in September 2024
In the month of September, banks will remain closed for a total of 15 days including weekly holidays. In September, banks will remain closed on the occasion of Tirubhav Tithi, Srimanta Sankardev, First Onam, Milad-un-Nabi, Indrajatra, Sri Narayana Guru Samadhi Day and Maharaja Hari Singh Ji.
- All banks in the country will remain closed on September 14 on the occasion of second Saturday.
- On September 16, on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad, banks in Gujarat, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Manipur, Jammu, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand will remain closed.
- Indrajatra/Id-e-Milad is on 17 September 2024 (Tuesday). Banks in Sikkim, Chhattisgarh will remain closed on this day.
- There will be a bank holiday in Sikkim on 18th September on the occasion of Pang-Lhabsol.
- Banks in Jammu and Srinagar will remain closed on September 20 on account of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi.
- Banks in Kerala will remain closed on September 21 on account of Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi Day.
- Banks in Jammu and Srinagar will remain closed on 23rd September on the occasion of birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji.
