Terrible landslides are taking place in Wayanad, Kerala, in such a situation, telecom company Bharti Airtel announced on Wednesday that prepaid customers whose validity has expired will get 1 GB free data and unlimited calling daily.
Apart from this, the bill payment date of all postpaid customers has been extended by 30 days. Sunil Bharti Mittal’s company has converted its 52 retail stores in Kerala into centers for collecting relief material to help the local administration.
Heavy rainfall in the hilly areas on Tuesday triggered a landslide, killing at least 132 people and injuring over 200. Announcing the relief measures, Bharti Airtel said in a statement, “Airtel stands with those affected by the landslide in Wayanad, Kerala.”

For prepaid customers
Customers whose recharge has expired and are unable to recharge will be given 1GB free data, unlimited calling and 100 SMS daily for three days.
For postpaid customers
The bill payment date for all postpaid customers has been extended by 30 days so that there is no interruption in the mobile service of the customers.
The company said, Airtel has made all its 52 retail stores in Kerala as centers for collecting relief material. People can donate relief material at these stores, which will later be given to the local administration to deliver it to the affected people of Wayanad. On Wednesday, the army intensified rescue and relief operations in Wayanad district of Kerala. More than 100 people have lost their lives in the landslide here. The army says that so far about 70 bodies have been recovered and about 1000 people have been rescued.
