Due to this merger, about 600 employees of Air India and Vistara Airlines may lose their jobs. All of them work in the ground staff of the airline. Currently, about 23000 employees work in these two airlines. However, none of the flying staff will lose their jobs.

Efforts are being made to provide jobs in other Tata Group companies

According to sources, despite all efforts, no place is being made for these 600 employees. Both airlines are trying to get these employees jobs in other companies of Tata Group. Despite this, those who are unable to get jobs will be provided a Voluntary Separation Scheme package. However, sources claimed that the merger will be completed by September or October. In such a situation, the exact number of those who will be laid off will be known only then. But, Air India has maintained silence on this issue.

Cabin crew and pilots will not be covered under this layoff

For the last several months, the process of fitting employees in these two airlines is going on based on their performance and experience. Their roles are also being decided in the giant airline that will be formed after the merger. Both airlines claim that this process is being done in a fair and transparent manner. Cabin crew and pilots are not going to be subject to this layoff. On May 12, Air India CEO Campbell Wilson and Vistara CEO Vinod Kannan held a town hall with the employees and discussed every aspect of the proposed merger.

After buying Air India, 9000 people were given jobs

This merger was announced in November 2022. After the deal is completed, Singapore Airlines will have a 25.1 percent stake in Air India. It has been approved by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and the Competition Commission of India (CCI). After buying Air India in January 2022, Tata Group has given jobs to about 9000 people in this airline. Under this merger, Air India Express and AIX Connect will also be merged.
